WTTC recognizes Mauritius as a safe travel destination with regard to Covid-19
Mauritius is actively preparing to welcome tourists and travelers again very soon.
No local cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Mauritius since April 26. The national curfew was then lifted from May 31.
Several shops in Mauritius have been reopening since Monday, June 1st, and certain jobs in the public and private sectors have resumed.
The physical and social distance regulations, the daily control of the body temperature, the cleaning and disinfection of the premises or locations, the use of hand disinfectants and the wearing of masks remain in force.
This success can be attributed to the Mauritian government, which launched a series of measures in January due to the global development of the Covid 19 pandemic.
After gradually closing the borders, introducing strict containment measures and isolating the sick, followed by intensive contact tracking and testing, the country is now entering a new phase and is waiting to see the first visitors again soon. Every effort is made to ensure that this is done under the best hygiene conditions.
The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) praised the introduction of a number of mandatory health measures by the Mauritius Tourism Authority and recognizes the popular dream island in the Indian Ocean as a safe travel destination with regard to Covid-19. The aim of these measures is to reactivate the tourist activities and to support the tourism companies in adjusting and preparing for the requirements of the vacationers.
